Farming is at the heart of Nannilam, and we are committed to using sustainable and regenerative farming practices that promote soil health, biodiversity, and animals. We believe that by growing our own food, we can reduce our carbon footprint, support local agriculture, and provide healthy and nutritious food for our community. Our village is situated amidst lush greenery, with streams flowing nearby and a fruit forest that is full of life. Living in such an environment can be a transformative experience, where you can learn about indigenous farming techniques, and connect with nature in a profound way.
We grow a wide variety of fruits like mango, wood apple, bananas, starfruit chiku guava using natural farming techniques such as composting, intercropping, crop rotation, and mulching. Our approach to farming is based on the principles of permaculture, which involves designing systems that mimic natural ecosystems, and prioritize the health and well-being of the soil, plants, and animals.
At Nannilam, you will have the opportunity to participate in farming activities and learn about indigenous farming practices from experienced farmers. You will get hands-on experience in planting, weeding, harvesting, composting, water management and other farming techniques.
